Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas qualified to the "32" of this year's Roland Garros in Paris after his 3-1 sets win over Hugo Dellien from Bolivia.

His next opponent (on Friday), is Serbian Filip Krajinovic, whom he will confront for the first time in his career.

If Tsitsipas defeats the Serb, he will break n 83-year old record. Since 1936, no Greek national has made to the fourth round of the French Open. That last one was Lazaros Stalios in 1936.

In women’s singles, Maria Sakkari plays (tonight Sydney time) with Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic.

In the other results, Australian Alex De Minaur lost 3-0 sets to Spaniard Pablo Carreno-Busta. Fellow Aussie Ashleigh Barty will play with American Danielle Collins.

Europa league final- Chelsea secured an emphatic win

In football, Chelsea defeated Arsenal 4-1 and won this year's Europa League. The final was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The organisers must be worried about the low turnout. All five goals were scored in the second half. For Chelsea and Pedro Hazard scored two goals each, and the fixth was from Giroud. The consolation goal for Arsenal was scored by Iwobi.

For Belgian Eden Hazard this may have been his last game with Chelsea's shirt, as he is to be transcribed, probably in Real Madrid, according to media sources.

FFA CUP- Bentleigh Greens are out

For the Australian Cup Qualifiers in Victoria, Pagkyprios (Bentleigh Greens) lost last night 2-0 to Hume City and they are out of the competition.

Basketball

In basketball,  the series of finals for the Greek championship, continued this morning (Australian time)

The results are:

Peristeri - Panathinaikos 68-91, and

AEK - Prometheus 83-82

The same pairs, but with a home ground change, will play again this Sunday.
