Global impact of coronavirus: Italy goes on lockdown, international stock

Italy has gone under lockdown, in an effort top halt the spread of coronavirus. At the same time, 2 republicans who were in close contract with president Donald Trump have isolated themselves after it was revealed they had been exposed to a person diagnosed with the virus.


The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced a number of measures aimed at tackling the spread of coronavirus that extend to the whole of Italy. Among others, the measures forbid all public gatherings, and postpone sports activities. Italians will now leave the house for serious reasons such as work or a medical emergency. The number of the deaths in the country has risen to 463, while the those diagnosed with the virus are roughly 9000.  

The WHO has hailed the news as encouraging. 

Republicans who met with Trump had been exposed to virus

It was revealed that two members of the Republican Party, Matt Gaetz and Doug Collins announced they were going to isolate themselves after coming into contact with a person who was diagnosed with coronavirus. Both representatives had met with Donald Trump before this reveal.
