Greece announced that it will expand its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles, said prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday.
Greece's minister for Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias noted that Greece will expand its territorial waters in other areas as well.
Meanwhile the situation in the eastern Mediterranean Sea caused the intervention of US president, Donald Trump. Mr Trump spoke on the phone with Mr Mitsotakis and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Greek PM informed Mr Trump about Turkey's actions and the instability in the area, adding that Greece is willing to do its part in diffusing the situation, on the condition that Turkey immedieately stops its provocative behaviour.
Mr Trump said that both Greece and Turkey ought to commit to a dialogue, saying its the only way to resolve the issue.
