As of July 1st Greece welcomes foreign tourists from selected countries abroad, without mandatory quarantine. Visitors are subjected to sample tests and fill out a form with their details before entering the country.

With music and dances, Greece welcomed the first international tourists at the airports of Crete and Rhodes. Greece has opened its gates and welcomed a total of 235 international flights to 27 airports in the country. Most travellers said they were happy to arrive in Greece on holiday, a country that has so far managed to keep the pandemic under control.

48 hours before their trip, all visitors are required to fill out an online form with their details and receive a special barcode. The tests are random and travelers do not know in advance if they will be tested. From Corfu, the Minister of Tourism Haris Theocharis said on an ERT  that this year at least 1.5 million tourists are expected in Greece and all the necessary measures are being taken to ensure both the economy and public health.

Permanent residents of the European Union (except Sweden and Great Britain), citizens of third countries with a residence permit in Greece and Greek expatriates with a Greek passport or identity card have the opportunity to travel to Greece. Also travellers from the list of 14 approved countries: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.

The suspension of all passenger flights to Greece from United Kingdom, Turkey and Sweden remains until Wednesday, July 15, 2020. However, travellers can reach Greece through another country, such as Germany. They are considered red passengers, that is, high risk and will be subjected to a covid test, said government spokesman Stelios Petsas, speaking to Star channel. Greek authorities will monitor the epidemiological data and will update the list of countries, as well as the instructions every 15 days.
