Mustafa Akinci received a positive response to his request for help by Nikos Anastasiadis. Meanwhile, Anastasiadis’ popularity appears to have increased during the pandemic.

Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis has agreed to send medicine and protective equipment supplies to occupied Northern Cyprus as early as next week, following a request by Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

A recent survey conducted over the phone has found that the overwhelming majority – 84% of respondents - believes that the Anastasiadis government had an appropriate response in the way it has handled the coronavirus crisis so far.

Around 10% of the participants deemed the response was “over the top”.
