Greek Australian becomes an organ donor to help the fight against the disease that is killing him

Facing a deadly disease with a small life expectancy, Costas Giannopoulos has decided to donate his organs to science, in hope that it will help develop a cure.


Pulmonary Fibrosis is a disease that creates scars inside the lungs, leading to serious breathing problems . There is no known cure.

Greek Australian Costas Giannopoulos, who has the disease, needs an oxygen concentrator 24 hours a day to help him breathe. The doctors told him, he does not have much time left.

This led him to become an organ donor, hoping that hiw healthy organs will help others in need and that science will be able to use his lungs to one day develop a cure for others who suffer from the disease.
