Greek gov’t to meet today over Samothrace’s transport havoc

Hundreds of tourists remained stranded due to a combination of powerful winds and a breakdown of the main ferry linking the northern Aegean island to the port of Alexandroupoli.


Greece’s state Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis has called an urgent meeting to tackle the recent transportation problems on the island.

Samothraki Mayor Thanasis Vitsas estimated that there were roughly 1,000 people stranded on the island.
