Ithacans first came to Victoria in the 1850s, in search of fortune on the gold fields. Since then, their entrepreneurial spirit has contributed greatly to the cultural fabric of Melbourne, from street stalls in the Queen Victoria Market to some of the citys finest cafes and restaurants.Now Melbournes Immigration Museum is hosting an exhibition titled Our Odyssey: Ithacans in Melbourne that has been developed in collaboration with the Ithacan community and coincides with the 100 year anniversary of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society as Dr Georgina Paizis tells Sotiris Hatzimanolis:
