Greek officials in Melbourne to attend the city's commemoration of the Battle of Crete

Having already visited Sydney and Canberra, the two Greek officers are currently in Melbourne in order to attend the city’s events in memory of the Battle of Crete. The Chairperson of the Battle of Crete and Greece Commemorative Committee, Antonis Tsourdalakis, talked to SBS about the program’s events.

Having already visited Sydney and Canberra, the two Greek officers are currently in Melbourne in order to attend the city’s events in memory of the Battle of Crete. The Chairperson of the Battle of Crete and Greece Commemorative Committee, Antonis Tsourdalakis, talked to SBS about the program’s events.


On Saturday 25th May:

At 7.00pm, Traditional Cretan Glendi at the Cretan House in Brunswick East.

On Sunday 26th May:

-At 10.00am, Church Service and Doxology at the St. Efstathios Cathedral in South Melbourne.    

-At 11.30am, Official Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Forecourt of the Shrine of Remembrance.

-At 1.00pm, Ceremony at the Australian Hellenic Memorial in the Domain Gardens.

-At 2.00pm, Official Luncheon in honour of the last surviving ANZAC Crete Veterans, at the Cretan Village Wantirna South.
