Half a million people in NSW are facing flood evacuation orders or warnings

The epicentre of the state's flood crisis is moving south, with Sydney, the Hunter and the Central Coast to be battered with intense rain.


Around 500,000 people across NSW are subject to an evacuation order or warning as the flood crisis gripping the state continues, with the premier warning "things will get worse better before they get better".


Major flooding is expected along the Hawkesbury and Nepean and Georges rivers, at Menangle, North Richmond, Penrith and Windsor on Thursday.
