Hotel Grand Chancellor has been shut for deep cleaning and its residents moved elsewhere as 6 people in self-isolation were confirmed to carry the coronavirus strain from United Kingdom.

Queenslanbd authorities announced that the 129 residents of Hotel Grand Chancellor are being moved to different hotels, as a cluster of six cases of the mutant coronavirus strain from United Kingdom was located on the seventh floor of the hotel. 

The 6 people stayed in the same floor but during different periods. Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk said that the residents will not be charged for their stay in Grand Chancellor.
In addition all staff that were at the hotel from 30 of December as well as those who completed their quarantine on and after that same date, will be placed ijn quarantine as a cautionary measure, for 14 days or until the authorities manage to determine the link to the strain.
