She is amongst the workers Australia recognises as "essential". Nurse in an intensive care. A "frontline" worker during the pandemic. And yet she is the last in her family still waiting to receive the Australian citizenship. More than 2 years of waiting. And her question is: "Why?"

Workers in Intensive Care Units always fight to keep people alive, even if they have to risk their own. Now with the pandemic their profession has become even more critical. They are amongst the most  essential workers. The First line workers.

Anna Gianni migrated in 2013 from Greece to Australia and works as a nurse in intensive care units. He has had to take care of patients with coronavirus, people who, in addition to respiratory support, have also developed multiorgan failure. She talks about the development of their health and working conditions at the hospital.
I feel safer in the hospital than when I walk out on the street or in the shops. Because at work we take all necessary measures.
Although Anna Gianni works 12-hour, night shifts to save human lives, she has been waiting more than 2 years to obtain her Australian citizenship. And she wonders why Australia hasn't  recognised yet  her as a citizen.

Anna Gianni's husband and 3 children, who applied for Australian citizenship at the same time, have been sworn Australian citizens since last October. Although Anna offers so much to Australia ... she is still waiting.
I don't think the delay is due to the pandemic. Someone just has to pick up my application. At some point it will happen. I wonder when.
