Greek Australian health minister of Victoria, Jenny Mikakos, says the laws will create ‘compassionate end of life care’ to those suffer.

Victorians suffering immense pain and terminal illnesses will be able to request access to voluntary assisted dying, after laws came into force today.

The state is the first in Australia to introduce voluntary assisted dying.

Despite the legislation remaining a hotly contested issue in the community, Victorian Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos told SBS Greek that people will give access to compassionate end of life care.
