Nick Kyrgios has made it, rather easily, to the third round of the US Open.

He defeated earlier today Frenchman Antoine Hoang 3-0 set (6-4, 6-2, 6-4). He faces next Russia’s Andrey Rublev, whio had beaten Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round.

Another setback for Kokkinakis

Meanwhile Thanasi Kokkinakis ‘ misfortunes continue. He was to face Rafael Nadal for the second round but withdrew due an injury in his right shoulder.

The Greek-Australian tennis player has been plagued with injuries so far. In his first round match on Tuesday he took almost four hours to beat Ilya Ivashka in four sets. It was the first win in a grand slam tournament for the 24-year old since 2015 Roland Garros in Paris.

“I’m filthy about it. Very disappointing. Obviously (it was) such a high from the other night,” Kokkinakis said. “Guess my body just isn’t ready for five-set tennis”.
