Speaking to SBS Greek, Melbourne-based entrepreneur Lazaros Papasavas confirmed he is now working with Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas as the manager of his commercial affairs.
Their friendship began years ago in Melbourne during the Australian Open.
The bond, he told SBS, grew through shared time in the Greek community and a charity initiative linked to a Melbourne Greek restaurant where funds for humanitarian causes were raised.
After what he described as a “difficult and challenging 2025” shaped by injuries and setbacks, Mr Papasavas said “success in 2026” starts with one essential foundation: keeping Tsitsipas healthy.
He insisted Tsitsipas is “totally capable” of reaching the Top 10 players with the right support and stability.
The Melburnian has family roots in Cyprus, and his father, Savas Papasava,s played a prominent role in Australian sport administration, including leadership positions tied to South Melbourne and the old National Soccer League.
Stefanos Tsitsipas' first game at the 2026 Australian Open is on Tuesday (20 January) at the Margaret Court Arena.
