A dog in Melbourne attacked an elderly couple, killing a 61-year-old man and injuring a 59-year-old woman.
The couple are the parents of the dog's owner.
The man's body was found at a Mill Park home about 6.40pm on Wednesday while his wife, who suffered severe injuries, was taken to hospital, police said.
The dog remained inside the house for hours afterwards as the authorities tried to prevent it from attacking again, before it was captured.
According tot eh authorities, the the dead man's daughter-in-law gave consent to destroy the animal.
