Manto Mavrogenous, a wealthy, educated woman from Cyclades, did not hesitate to spent her money to finance the uprising of 1821 against the Ottoman Empire. Associate professor of history from the University of Crete, Eleftheria Zei, spoke to Dina Gerolymou about Mavrogenous.
