Greek tennis champion Maria Sakkari secured one of her biggest wins by defeating World No 2, Naomi Osaka 2-0 sets and progressing to the Miami Open semi finals.

Her next opponent is Spain’s Sarra Rorribes Tormo.

Sakkari took the first set 6-0. In the second she was behind 4-21 but managed to win the next five and complete her victory.

Sakkari’s win is a “gift” to Australian Ash Barty who will remain World’s number one. Barty also progressed to the semis of Miami Open, after her victory with 2-1 sets over Aryna Sabalenka from Byelorussia . She faces next Ukraine’s Ellina Svitolina.
