Thousands of students and representatives of Greek brootherhoods and organisations took part in a parade at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne to commemorate Greek National Day.Schools children of all ages, families community representatives as well as religious and political leaders gathered to pay tribute to the hanful of greeks who on the 25th of March 1821 vowed to liberate Greece from the Ottomans.Most students wore traditional customs from various parts of Greece and carrying Greek and Australian flags marched in front of the eternal flame.Among the political leaders who watched the parade were the Shadow Attorney General Mark Dreyfus representing the Federal Opposition , Julia Banks MP representing Malcolm Turnbull, Mathew Guy MP leader of the State Opposition, Mathew Guy MP representing Daniel Andrews, Minister for Youth Affairs and Families Jenny Mikakos and many others.More on this story by Odysseas Kripotos.
