The newly elected President Peter Stefanidis speaks to SBS Greek.

The new board of the Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia was elected recently.

One of its priorities as Mr Stefanidis explained is to create a National Youth Committee. “I have tried twice before in previous terms... we didn’t succeed, but, now we have a plan and we believe we’ll be successful” said the new President.

When asked how the Federation will be able to attract the younger generations, Mr Stefanidis noted the experience and the skills one may acquire by participating in positions of responsibility within an organisation.

A set of skills, added Mr Stefanidis which could be beneficial for this individual on a professional level. Furthermore, he emphasised the need for grooming the future leadership of the Greek community organisations. “All we have to do is promote these things and all they have to do is sacrifice a little bit of their time” said Mr Stefanidis.
