The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted organ and tissue donation in Australia, with a 12 per cent decline in people receiving a transplant and a 16 per cent decrease in donors.

As a result, nearly 2,000 Australians are waiting for a transplant while 12,000 others are on dialysis, battling, waiting and hoping for an organ donation to come through.

13 million Australians are eligible to register as organ and tissue donors, but haven't.

They are being urged to take literally one minute to sign up, to help save more than 1,800 people anxiously awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant.
