Ms Paraskevi Christou is a very active member of her local Cypriot Youth Centres named Prometheus of Agios Amvrosios of Keryneia. She has a long association with the role that these play particularly after the occupation of part of Cyprus and the displacement of the local people and youth.
Nowadays, these Cypriot Centres which are run by local volunteers help the youth of the island to engage in cultural activities and for them to maintain their greek traditions through dance and the arts. Dimitrios Kametopoulos speaks to Ms Paraskevi Christou, who visited Sydney recently, about these initiatives and the fact that her wish is that the Centres connect with the Hellenic diaspora.
