The Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Society of Australia has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The society has contributed towards raising awareness and understanding of this genetic condition and helped to clarify some of the misconceptions within our community. Thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia today are widely recognised and viewed with a greater sense of understanding.
