This year’s conference is entitled "Connecting and Re-connecting communities- Re-claiming Greece as a field of Studies, teaching and research in the 21st century”. It will take place from 5-8 December at Macquarie University Art Gallery.
The conference aims to re-frame the future of Modern Greek Studies by reclaiming Greek culture as a field of research, learning and community engagement.
Participants are invited to explore alternative perspectives on Greece as a renewed field of research through discussion of past and present aspects of Greek Studies and how these have impacted and continue to impact the contemporary Greek world.
Keynote speakers for the conference include:
- Liana Theodoratou, Clinical Professor and Director of the Alexander S. Onassis Program.
- Dr Odette Varon Vassard, Senior Lecturer of Hellenic History and Civilization, Hellenic Open University (2001-2017)
- Professor Vrasidas Karalis, Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, University of Sydney.
