The European country, which is experiencing the second-deadliest outbreak of COVID-19, has reported another 913 deaths in 24 hours.

Spain's total number of coronavirus cases has risen to almost 88,000, surpassing the total number of infections reported in epicentre China.

The tragic situation in the country is described by Sylvia Orphanidou, a third generation Greek living in Madrid.

"There is a great shortage of respirators and hospitals now divide people by age, if you are over 65 they don't put in respirators and when they see you are very bad they give you morphine and leave you with God. That's why so many elderly are dying, "she said to SBS Greek.
