Taekwondo isn’t just a sport for Stacey Hymer. It’s a lifelong pursuit of strength, focus, and belief. The dual Olympian opens up about her journey, her proudest moments, and the unwavering dream of Olympic glory that continues to inspire her.


Stacey Hymer is a dual Olympian, Oceania Champion, and Australian National Champion who has proudly represented Australia in taekwondo for more than seven years.

With Greek and Albanian heritage, the Melbourne-based athlete has built an impressive international career, competing at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This year, Stacey has continued her strong form, earning silver at the Daegu World University Taekwondo Festival and bronze medals at the Oceania Presidents Cup and Australia Open.

Her connection to taekwondo began early, sparked by curiosity and a love for movement. From the age of four, she showed the same determination that now defines her international career.

I started Taekwondo when I was four years old… And I just found my environment where I could just enjoy myself as well as learn new skills and techniques.

Hymer describes her first Olympic Games in Tokyo as a defining moment that tested her courage and composure on the world stage.

Competing in Tokyo, my first Olympics, was actually quite scary… but I was really happy that I was able to put on a really good performance.

Her unwavering self-belief continues to guide her, as she remains focused on the ultimate goal - standing on the Olympic podium.
