Study: Feta is the healthiest cheese in the world

Scientists from the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens studied a wide variety of feta cheese produced all across Greece in an effort to quantify the nutritional specifics of the popular Greek cheese.


According to the findings, feta has 489 different types of protein, making it one of the most protein-rich cheese varieties in the entire world.

Dr. Tsangaris and Dr. Anagnostopoulos, the BRFAA researchers, analysed several varieties of feta cheese from all over Greece bearing the indication “Protected Designation of Origin” (PDO), identifying their nutritional properties and value.

PDO feta contain a total of 489 different proteins, making it one of the world’s most protein-rich cheeses.
