A new report claims to have found the secrets of learning success in Australia's best-performing disadvantaged schools.
The Centre for Independent Studies says explicit teaching, strong school discipline and collaboration among teachers are some of the key approaches found in schools where disadvantaged students are outperforming their peers.
Located 30 kilometres south east of Melbourne's CBD, Lyndale [[lin-dayl]] Greens Primary School serves a diverse community.
There are over 50 nationalities represented among the student body and around 80 per cent of students also speak a language other than English.
Almost half of Lyndale Green's students come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. And financially disadvantaged students tend to perform less well in literacy and numeracy than their peers. But the results at Lyndale Greens don't fit that trend.
