AHEPA NSW Cultural Centre ‘’Kostis Palamas’’ and Hellenic Art Theatre bring to Sydney a week filled with theatre, as well as a presentation on the history of Greek theater in Australia.

Greek Theater Week is meant to bring theater closer to the minds of Greeks in Australia.

‘’Theater has the possibility to help us preserve our identity, our language and of course to help cultivate our relationships with the wider Australian society’’ says Dr Vasilis Adrahtas, vice President of Cultural Centre ‘’Kostis Palamas’’.

The shows were organized because of a book by Dr Helen Tsefalas titled One Hundred Years of Greek Theater in Australia (1910-2010). The book is being presented for the first time in Australia, in several cities.

The book includes interviews with theater stakeholders, provides a historical view of Greek theater in Australia over a period of a hundred years and also has a section on the theater writers in the country.

Press play to hear more in Greek.
