The decision to award the A-League finals to the city of Sydney for the next few years is causing mixed reactions.

Sydney will host the A-League men's and women's grand finals, with the decision causing a backlash from football fans outside of New South Wales.

To date, tradition has seen the team that finishes in first place in the regular season win the right to host the season finals.

The New South Wales government, however, reportedly paid an eight-figure sum to secure the rights to host the finals from 2023.
