The issue of voting for Greek expatriates from their place of residence is once again in the spotlight after the leader of the Opposition in Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, pressed the government to address the chronic void of a legislative solution.

SBS Greek, spoke with the manager of the SYRIZA caucus in the Greek Parliament Kostas Zachariadis. He clearly, expressed the party's hesitation to grant the right to vote to Greek abroad, making the distinction between the older and the newer Greek migrants. He noted hat SYRIZA, has not come up with a definitive proposal, but highlighted the fact that is considering the issue in the framework of the recent exodus of Greeks, during 2010-2018, the years of the economic crisis.

Furthermore, Mr Zachariadis, argued that the Greek migrants of the 60's and 70's despite their love for their country, were not in tuned with the current realities of life in Greece and therefore, should not weigh in with their votes in the electoral process.
