While the state's northwest is in the midst of a coronavirus outbreak, schools in the rest of Tasmania opened to students today.
Despite the schools being open, authorities haven't encouraged the children to return to the classrooms. Education minister Jeremy Rockliff said that if children can learn at home, that would be be the best place for them to be.
However schools will be open to provide support to the parent who are not able to leave their kids alone at home if they have to work, or they are not able to supervise them.
