TasPorts withdrew the application for a permanent floating marina in the Constitution Block, before the City Council was due to vote on it.

The corporation’s argument was that the marina would be needed for the 75th anniversary of the Sydney to Hobart race, as the number of yachts expected to take part this year is over 150, compared to last year’s 85.

The application was expected to be rejected by Hobart City Council due to heritage concerns.
