Thanasi Kokkinakis is through to the second round of the US Open after beating 3-1 set Ilya Ivanska from Belarus

This is the first Grand slam win for the Greek-Australian player since 2015.

The 24-year old from South Australia, took almost four hours to overcome the Belarusian.

He will now play Rafael Nadal who beat 3-0 sets Australia’s John Millman.
