The German recognition of the Armenian genocide

Turkey has recalled its ambassador to Germany in protest against a German parliament resolution declaring the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman forces a genocide. Germany's lower house of parliament passed the symbolic resolution by an overwhelming majority. Although Turkey accepts that deaths occurred, it rejects the idea that the killings of Armenians during World War One amounted to a genocide.
