The GOC of NSW forms a Committee for the 200 years from 1821

The Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales at the last meeting of the Council decided to establish a wide Committee to commemorate the two hundred years since the beginning of the revolution and the national liberation struggle of Greece ιν 1821.


According to a press release by the GOC of NSW, “the Board of Directors had contacts with Αacademics, people of the arts, politicians and a committee was set up consisting of: Harry Danalis, Michael Tsilimos, Nia Karteris, Christos Belerhas, Prof. Vrasidas Karalis, Efthymios Kallos, Helen Vatsikopoulos, Leonard Janiszewski, Effy Alexakis and Lex Marinos”

“The aforementioned Committee can be complemented by Organizations / Brotherhoods or even by individuals who wish to participate for the better and successful organization of the events.

The following have been discussed to be included in the program:

1) On 25/3/2021 recital of the National Anthem of Greece, Dionysios Solomos, with Symphony Orchestra at the University of Sydney, Great Hall.

2) Theatre - Presentation "Kapodistrias" of Nikos Kazantzakis.

3) Theatre - Presentation "Babylonia" of D. K. Byzantiou.
