The Organisational Committee for Greek National Day would like to make it known to the Australian Hellenic Community that the Hellenic Presidential Guard EVZONES will be participating at the public events in their costumes. The secretary of the Committee Antonis Tsourdalakis talks to SBS Greek's Panos Apostolou 'Evzones' public events.


The Organisational Committee for Greek National Day is very proud to announce to the wider Hellenic Australian Community that next year’s parade on Sunday 25th March 2018 to mark the liberation of Greece will be a historic one. It will include the Parading and participation of the Hellenic Presidential Guard “ Εύζωνες ‘ with a total of 12 members plus their leaders. It’s been 24 years since the Presidential Guard last visited Melbourne which was in 1992 for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete. 

 

The public events are the following ones: 

- Official Guarding of Parliament House on Thursday 22nd March at 1.30pm - 2.00pm. 

- Participation at the Victorian Multicultural Commission's Multicultural Festival at Federation Square on Saturday 24th March at 2.00pm to 3.00pm. 

- Greek National Day Parade on Sunday 25th March at 12.30pm at the shrine of Remembrance. 

There is also a public event 'Evzones Welcome & Celebration" organised by Oakleigh Village Traders association in Oakleigh Village Eaton Mall on Sunday 25 March 3pm-11pm.
