A very moving event took place recently in Adelaide to mark the 60th anniversary from the day 900 Greek single women known as 'nyfes' (brides) left their homeland and embarked on their journey to Australia in a quest for a better future. Sabina Kelakios one of the organizers of the event says it was very moving listening to the incredible stories of young women who left their families and homes behind to come to Australia and meet their future partners on the promise of a new and better life. Husbands whom they had never met before.
