The refugee and migrant crisis in general is still occurring on the northeast Aegean island of Lesbos even during the northern hemisphere winter months although conditions have improved since last summer. The local economy has been affected in a paradoxically positive manner and the local Lesvian people who are rendering invaluable assistance to the needy Syrian, Iraqi and other refugee families has prompted the current Internet voting for Lesbos and the other Greek islanders to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for this year.
