Trouble continues for a number of Greek nationals who happened to be in Australia at the time of the coronavirus outbreak and are now unable to return to Greece, mainly because the companies with which they booked their tickets have stopped operating.

One of them is Mr. Vangelis Makroulis, who contacted SBS Greek to tell us that he had paid the return ticket in advance, and then seeing that the company, Emirates in this case, stopped the flights, closed with another company, Etihad through Greek Aegean. However, this flight was also cancelled.

"My story begins with the day I planned to leave Melbourne for Eleftherios Venizelos. My flight was scheduled for March 21 with Emirates and I had booked my ticket on November 20, 2019. Two days before the flight, they cancelled a part of it, "Vangelis said in an interview with SBS Radio's Greek Program. Mr. Markoulis, explaining the problem that arose.
