''The Sisypheans is a theory we created with Jim during our tours'' says George Xylouris. The idea for the album came from his habit of repeatedly playing certain tunes.
''Every time I play the same tune, I discover it again again. I carry some things in my mind, in my soul, that I like to touch on it from the beginning'', the Greek artist explains.
The name of the album is a nod to the ancient myth of Sisyphus. According to the legend, the gods cursed Sisyphus with carrying a rock to the top of a mountain. When he would reach the peak, the rock would slide down to the valley and Sisyphus would have to restart his ordeal.

For George Xylouris, the tours and the tunes are his own rock. But he notes that this does tire him.
''Everytime he would descend the mountain to pick up his rock, Sisyphus was almost pleased. Because he would take a different route to the top of the mountain. He observed the sky, the birds, the flowers... he gave meaning to his damnation''.

''The joy in this, is that you rediscover your music again and again, and as result, your own self','' says George Xylouris.
Their last three albums, ''Goats'', ''Black Peak'' and ''Mother'', comprise a musical trilogy. The ideas and the themes in these albums explore the beginning of the partnership between the two musicians. ''The Sisypheans'' is the natural evolution of this relationship, according to Mr. Xylouris, with the music of the album being more ambient, hypnotic and travel-loving.
