The story of a Greek familiy in Canberra, published in a history journal

An article in the latest publication of «Australian Journal of Biography and History» explores the story of the Kalokairinos family, that for several years operated a milk bar in Curtin, Canberra.


The National Centre of Biography, at the Australian National University , in association with the Canberra and District Historical Society recently published the second volume of the Australian Journal of Biography and History for 2019. The journal was published by Dr Malcolm Allbrook.

Among its pages is the story of a Greek family from Kythera, Vince and Viola Kalokerinos, who operated the Curtin Milk Bar for several years. The article was written by the couple’s son, John Kalokerinos.  

The journal was launched by senator Arthur Sinodinos.

During the launch, Mrs Kalorerinos thanked the attendees and spoke for the love and support she has received all these years from the community, and how it drove her to give back to through contributions and charity work.
