The 3rd LGBTQIA+ Multicultural Fair Day returns to Thomastown

Melbourne's Thomastown will come alive on Saturday, November 8, as the 3rd LGBTQIA+ Multicultural Fair Day unfolds at the Barry Road Community Activity Centre from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Funded by Whittlesea City Council, this year’s fair continues the strong tradition of celebrating diversity, human rights, and social justice.

The free event offers a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals from diverse cultures, allies, and community members to come together and connect through art, music, and shared experiences.

Event organiser Greek/Australian Maria Bololia, a long-time activist, says the inspiration for the Fair Day came from a deeply personal journey.
This year’s program features street art with Doyle from Blender Studio, African drumming, recycled fashion, and sustainable gardening workshops, alongside information stalls run by inclusive community organisations such as Q+ Law, Switchboard, Trans Space, and the Women’s Information Referral Exchange.

The event is designed to be approachable and interactive.

Participants can drop in and out of short workshops, connect with local services, and enjoy performances by diverse artists, including a Muslim trans woman MC, and spoken-word pieces performed by Bololia herself.

The day will also feature complimentary food from Nina’s Cucina, giveaways from La Mez, and free onsite parking.
