In early 1970s Thimios Haralampopoulos, while digging for opals in Coober Pedy, befriended Gary, a young indigenous man. With limited English and an open-minded attitude, T.Haralampopoulos accepted Gary's invitation to join him in his homeland, a remote community south of Alice Springs. He was meant to stay for a few days. He ended up spending months in Wallace Rockhole, learnt the language and accompanied one of the elders to an extended trip in the bush. Thimios Haralampoulos has been an advocate for indigenous issues ever since. Soon, he will publish a book about his experiences. He spoke to Dina Gerolymou. (interview in Greek - part 1)
