The Socceroos, were beaten 4-1 by world champions France in Group 4.
The game at the Al Yanub Stadium, started in the best possible way for Graham Arnold's players, as in the 9th minute, Leckie crossed to Goodwin, who made it 1-0.
The joy for the Australians, however, did not last long.
