Greece’s Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, made it very clear that he will not call for elections before the end of his government’s term is due.
Speaking to ANT1 channel, the Greek Prime Minister talked about a number of topics, including the national elections, the Prespes Agreement, the Novartis case and the matter of Voting for Greeks living abroad.
No early elections
Mr. Tsipras said that elections will be held when four years have passed. He remarked that this is part of his strategy and «a sign that Greece is entering normality».
The Greek Prime Minister also mentioned that the Prespes Agreement was something he did with the nation’s well-being in mind, rather than an attempt at political gain.
«Where my predecessors thinking about the political cost regarding matters of national importance? I never did. I did not think about it in the summer of 2015, where I was left with half of my parliamentary group, when I chose to do what was best for the country».
When asked about the matter of Greeks living overseas being able to vote, he said that there is a need for a system that will allow Greeks abroad to elect their representatives without affecting the will of Greeks living in the country.
