The Turkish government has vowed to eliminate allies of the United States-based cleric it blames for a failed coup at the weekend. It has widened a crackdown of the army, police and judiciary to the education sector, intelligence agency and religious authorities. Close to 50,000 soldiers, police, judges and civil servants have been arrested or suspended.
