Ankara continues its provocations against Greece, with the Turkish Defense minister, Hulusi Akar, raising the issue of demilitarization of 16 Greek islands.

Ankara continues its provocations against Greece, with the Turkish Defense minister, Hulusi Akar, raising the issue of demilitarization of 16 Greek islands.


The response from Greece was immediate. "It is at least hypocritical for a country that systematically violates the territorial integrity, sovereignty and sovereign rights of almost all of its neighboring countries ... to invoke international law," the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Whilst, Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who was asked to comment his Turkish counterpart's statement, said: "What is threatened is not demilitarized."
