The UN Security Council warns against any action in Varosha that detracts from the resolutions 550 and 789.

After a  conference, the President of the Security Council, Jerry Matthews Matjila  highlighted the importance of the resolutions 550 and 789 of Varosha and warned that "no actions should be carried out in relation to Varosha that are not in accordance with those resolutions’’.

Resolution 550 deems inadmissible any attempt to populate Varosha, except by the original inhabitants of the area, before the Invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

Resolution 789 calls for Varosha to come under the control of the UN peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
