Melbourne-based contemporary artist Victoria Floratos is inviting audiences to rethink the meaning of disruption through her latest exhibition, “Interruption,” currently on display at West End Space.
Known for her distinctive use of eggshells, Floratos transforms a fragile, everyday material into intricate compositions that explore resilience, transformation and the hidden beauty within life’s fractures.
Her artistic journey took shape over time, but it was a growing awareness of modern consumer habits that led her to her signature medium.
At the heart of Ms Floratos’ work lies the symbolism of the eggshell, a material that embodies both vulnerability and strength.
Rather than concealing cracks, her work highlights them, turning rupture into a visual language of resilience.

The exhibition’s title reflects a deeply personal and philosophical concept.
The idea was partly inspired by literature, prompting her to reflect on how unexpected events reshape human experience.
Themes of loss, migration and identity run throughout the exhibition.
Her work encourages viewers to look more closely, not only at the delicate surfaces of her pieces but also at their own personal narratives.
She also emphasises the importance of engaging with art in everyday life.
“Interruption” runs until April 3, at West End Art Space (112 Adderley Street, West Melbourne), Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am – 4 pm.
